Our boat based tours begin in Homer, Alaska, a gateway community to Kachemak Bay State Park, Katmai National Park, Kenai Fjords National Park and Lake Clark National Park. You will be flown out to the boat on a DeHaviland 10 passenger Otter float plane. The flight takes about an hour and a half and will take you over volcanoes, glaciers, lakes, Cook Inlet and the Shelikof Straits. Our destination is a calm bay in Katmai National Park and our floating lodge, the Kittiwake II.
After a brief orientation, we are off to see the bears. Look for Stellar Sea Lions, otters, whales and porpoise along the way. On land, look for foxes, puffins, bears of course and a wide variety of other wildlife. We are in the land of the midnight sun so we have ample day light for photography, hiking and wildlife
viewing. Typically in the evening we will take a cruise to a different bay for viewing other bear behavior and wildlife. Our typical trip last four days and three nights and provides you with a much higher quality experience and vastly greater photo opportunities than a one-day trip. Also, you get to take part in a major culinary experience, dinners on the Kittiwake II. We do pride ourselves on providing belt popping gourmet meals. Your flight back to Homer is another chance to enjoy the fantastic coast of Katmai National Park.
